Getting Started with adding Keyword Template in Google AdWords
CallRoot helps you with keywords level tracking but before that, you will need to slightly tweak things in your Google AdWords(Beta) account. Just add keyword parameter in your Google Adwords final URLs and you’re good to go!
Creating Tracking Template at the Account Level
In this, the “keyword={keyword}” parameter is added to all the campaigns created in your Google AdWords account- in one go! Trace through the following points to get started to it.
- Head over to the left panel and choose All Campaigns.
2. Then, click on Settings on the lefthand side of the page.
3. Choose Account Settings at the top of the page.
4. Click on Tracking Template. Type {Ipurl} and add the keyword parameter. In this case {Ipurl} represents your final URL so that you don’t have to type in your ad URLs.
If your tracking template does not contain a “?” append: ?keyword={keyword}
If your tracking template already contains a “?”append: &keyword={keyword}

To add “keyword={keyword}” parameter to all ads within a specific campaign check the following steps-
- Head over to the left panel and choose All Campaigns.
2. Then, click on Settings on the lefthand side of the page.
3. Now click on Campaign Settings.
4. Choose the campaign in which you want to add the keyword parameter.
5. Click on Edit option and then click Change Tracking Templates.
6. Keep the first option- Set tracking template selected and then Type {Ipurl} and add the keyword parameter. In this case {Ipurl} represents your final URL so that you don’t have to type in your ad URLs.
If your tracking template does not contain a “?” append: ?keyword={keyword}
If your tracking template already contains a “?” append: &keyword={keyword}
7. After you’re done making changes, click on APPLY.
Creating Tracking Template at the particular Ad Group Level
To add “keyword={keyword}” parameter to all ads within a specific campaign check the following steps-
- Head over to the left panel and choose All Campaigns.
2. Then, click on Settings on the lefthand side of the page.
3. Choose Campaign Settings.

5. Choose the ad group in which you want to add the keyword parameter.
6. Now, click on Edit option and then click Change Tracking Templates.

5. Choose the ad to which you would like to add keyword parameter.
6. Now, click on Edit option and then click Change Tracking Templates.
